FORD VEHICLE SECURITY

Vehicle-specific security for Ford Ranger Raptor, Ranger Wildtrak, Ranger, Transit Custom, Transit, Mustang, Mustang Mach-E and selected F-150 Raptor vehicles — with the right combination of immobilisation, tracking, alarm and camera protection selected for the exact Ford.

Every installation is personally carried out by Luke Wells. The security plan starts with the vehicle generation, factory Ford security and connectivity already present, how the vehicle is used and any insurer requirement.

Ford-specific security planning

One Ford Page, Four Very Different Security Use Cases

Ford is unusually broad for this vehicle-security silo. Luke's real workload covers performance pickups, commercial vans, petrol performance cars and electric vehicles, so a recycled “car security” pitch would be weak.

A Ranger Wildtrak carrying tools and towing equipment has a different risk profile from a Mustang parked at home, a Transit Custom working every day across London, or a Mustang Mach-E using connected Ford services. The correct setup is therefore based on the actual vehicle and use case.

This page owns the broad Ford vehicle security intent. For general immobiliser information, use the Ghost Immobiliser hub. For insurance-related tracking, use S5/S7 Vehicle Trackers. The full manufacturer structure is under Vehicle Security by Make.

Compatibility rule: “Ford compatible” is not enough. Ranger, Transit, Mustang and Mach-E use different platforms and electronic systems. Luke checks current product fitment for the exact model and year before booking.

Ranger pickup security

Ford Ranger Raptor, Ranger Wildtrak and Ranger Security

Ranger is one of the strongest commercial opportunities in Luke's Ford list because a pickup can combine high value, work use, accessories and daily parking in multiple locations.

Ford Ranger Raptor

Performance-oriented Ranger Raptor models should be checked by exact generation and model year. A high-value pickup may benefit from layered immobilisation and tracking where compatible, but value alone does not determine the insurer requirement.

Ranger Raptor • exact generation/year required

Ford Ranger Wildtrak

Wildtrak models are often used for mixed personal and business driving. Security planning can include vehicle theft prevention, tracking and separate protection for tools or load-area contents.

Ranger Wildtrak • pickup • business / lifestyle use

Ford Ranger

The wider Ranger family spans multiple specifications and model generations. Factory keyless systems and connected functions vary, so current equipment should be understood before adding aftermarket security.

Ranger • multiple trims • generation-specific compatibility

Keyless & relay-attack context

Ford's Motion-Sensing Key Technology and Aftermarket Immobilisation

Ford has developed its own countermeasure against relay attacks on supported keyless vehicles. That factory protection is important context rather than something an aftermarket page should ignore.

Ford UK says its motion-sensing key fob enters sleep mode after being stationary for more than 40 seconds, stopping it responding to relay-box attempts until the key is moved again. Ford also advises owners to check that the vehicle has actually double-locked and to store non-sleeping keyless fobs away from the vehicle or in a suitable shielded container.

A compatible aftermarket immobiliser is a separate layer. It is designed around additional driver authorisation rather than simply reducing the ability to relay the original key signal.

  • Factory motion-sensing fob technology can reduce relay-attack exposure on supported Ford vehicles.
  • Owners should still follow Ford's locking and key-storage guidance.
  • An aftermarket immobiliser adds a different driver-authorisation layer where compatible.
  • Trackers address stolen-vehicle location/recovery rather than keyless-entry relay risk itself.
  • The complete security plan should avoid duplicating functions without a clear reason.

Commercial vehicle security

Ford Transit Custom and Transit Need More Than Generic Car-Security Copy

For a working van, vehicle theft is only one part of the risk. Downtime, tools, equipment, cargo and unauthorised use can all matter, which makes the Transit security conversation different from a Mustang or performance pickup.

Transit Custom Security

For Transit Custom, think about the vehicle and load area separately. An immobiliser or tracker may help protect the van itself, while tools and cargo can require different hardware and working practices.

Transit Custom • work van • tools • daily use

Ford Transit Security

Full-size Transit vehicles can be business-critical assets. Security planning may prioritise tracking, unauthorised-use alerts and reducing downtime as much as theft prevention.

Transit • commercial vehicle • fleet / owner-driver

Ford Pro Telematics

Ford Pro can provide connected security alerts and vehicle location on eligible commercial vehicles. This is a separate layer from an aftermarket immobiliser or insurer-specified tracker.

Telematics • alerts • location • fleet security

Ford says eligible Ford Pro Telematics vehicles can issue alerts for unexpected movement, starting or door opening during configured periods, and location information can support stolen-vehicle recovery.

Mustang security

Ford Mustang and Mustang Mach-E Are Different Security Platforms

The Mustang name covers traditional performance cars and the fully electric Mustang Mach-E. Shared branding does not make their electronics or aftermarket compatibility interchangeable.

Ford Mustang

For petrol Mustang models, check the exact generation, keyless equipment and current aftermarket compatibility before choosing an immobiliser, tracker or alarm. Storage and insurer conditions also matter.

Mustang • performance car • exact generation required

Mustang Mach-E

Mach-E is a dedicated electric platform with connected Ford services. An EV should receive its own compatibility check rather than inheriting a fitment assumption from a petrol Mustang.

Mustang Mach-E • EV • connected vehicle

On supported connected Fords, Ford says its app can remotely lock or unlock the vehicle and access other remote functions. That is useful owner control, but it is not the same as a dedicated immobiliser or monitored tracker.

Imported performance pickup

F-150 Raptor Security Requires a Market-Specific Check

Luke also listed the Ford F-150 Raptor. Because it is not a mainstream Ford UK model, the security process should be even more disciplined.

An imported F-150 can have North American specification electronics, keys, connected services and equipment that differ from a UK Ranger or Transit. Track & Tune should therefore confirm the precise vehicle, model year and product compatibility before promising a system.

Imported vehicle rule: UK Ford connected-service claims are not automatically applied to an imported F-150. Exact-market documentation and the security manufacturer's current fitment information take priority.

Connected security vs aftermarket security

Remote Locking, Security Alerts and Tracking Are Different Layers

Ford connected services can improve awareness, particularly for working vehicles, but they should not be described as identical to a certified tracker or immobiliser.

Remote Lock / Unlock

Supported Ford app vehicles can be remotely locked or unlocked through the connected vehicle modem.

Telematics Security Alerts

Eligible Ford Pro vehicles can provide security alerts and location information for business/fleet monitoring.

Aftermarket Protection

A dedicated immobiliser or certified tracking product has a different purpose and may also be relevant to insurer requirements.

TASSA, Thatcham & insurer wording

Use the Correct Standard Instead of Calling Everything “Insurance Approved”

High-value pickups, performance cars and commercial vans can all have different policy requirements.

TASSA

TASSA verifies aftermarket products and approved installers. Luke's installer status and the selected product's own verification remain separate claims.

S5 / S7 Tracking

Thatcham distinguishes Vehicle Tracking Systems (S5) from Asset Location Systems (S7). The customer's policy should decide which standard is needed.

Insurer Acceptance

Certification does not automatically mean every insurer accepts every product, so Track & Tune keeps this wording carefully qualified.

Ford security FAQs

Questions Before You Book

Does a Ghost immobiliser fit every Ford?

No. Compatibility depends on exact model, generation and year. Luke checks the current Autowatch compatibility information before confirming a fitment.

Can you protect a Ford Ranger Raptor?

Yes, subject to exact product compatibility. Ranger Raptor is one of the Ford vehicles Luke specifically identified from Track & Tune's regular workload.

What security is useful for a Ranger Wildtrak?

A compatible immobiliser can add driver authorisation, a tracker can support recovery and a dash cam can provide evidence. Tools and load-area contents may need separate measures.

Can you secure a Ford Transit Custom?

Yes. Transit Custom is part of Luke's regular workload. The right setup depends on whether the priority is vehicle theft, unauthorised use, recovery, tools or business downtime.

What does Ford Pro Telematics add?

Ford says eligible commercial vehicles can provide security alerts and location information through Ford Pro Telematics, including unexpected movement or door-opening alerts.

How does Ford's motion-sensing key help?

Ford says supported motion-sensing fobs sleep after more than 40 seconds stationary and do not respond to relay-box attempts while asleep. Check with Ford whether your exact key supports this feature.

Can a Mustang Mach-E have aftermarket security?

Potentially, but it is a dedicated EV platform and must be checked separately rather than assuming petrol Mustang compatibility.

What about an imported F-150 Raptor?

Imported F-150 vehicles need a market-specific check because electronics, keys and connected services can differ from UK-market Ford models.

Can the Ford app replace a tracker?

No blanket equivalence should be assumed. Remote app functions and a dedicated certified tracking service have different purposes and insurer implications.

Should I choose an immobiliser or S5 tracker?

They perform different jobs. An immobiliser adds a preventative authorisation layer, while an S5 tracker focuses on tracking/recovery with driver recognition. Some vehicles use both.

Will aftermarket security affect my Ford warranty?

Warranty decisions remain with Ford or the applicable warranty provider. Luke can explain the installation approach, but Track & Tune does not give a blanket manufacturer-warranty guarantee.

Do you provide mobile Ford security installation?

Yes. Luke provides mobile fitting across served Greater London, Essex, Kent, Hertfordshire and surrounding South East locations, subject to postcode and availability.
